We had a blast in Malaysia! The country is one huge melting pot of cultures as Rex would say. If in Manila, you will only see Chinese in Chinatown and Indians / Arabs in Shopping Malls, in Malaysia you see them everywhere! Different race, face, smell, language, behaviour... it was fantastic! Hehe.
Massive territory was a success except for Nico Stumpo who never showed up at the event.. we were thinking he got mugged at the airport for possibly carying coke in his pocket lol but never the less, Scien and Klor, Shawn and Japanese dude, Chris Lee, Kustaa, and of course the ever friendly JD freakin' rocked the house! We went to the after party and we all (Me carl ella aram and inksurge) felt like VIPs coz they were serving us free flowing wine and cocktails and finger foods. It turns out Rex and Jois both worked for Peter's T-Shirt store named Radioactive and so they know him already, Peter's like one of the gods in that conference hehe.. and also the six of us were the only foreigners in the audience hahaha.
Carl and I were invited by the organizers to go clubbing so we took the opportunity to brush shoulders and hang out with the speakers and it was so overwhelming to go out with them - Klor was like "You know you should dance with your boyfriend!" on one of the bars we went to in KL and i replied back "No, im shy plus.. let's not take away the spotlight from Muid". Muid as everyone should know, dances the f*ck like HELL! He's so good no one even bothers to join him, they just look at him and go whoa.
It was an amazing experience. After the conference, that's where our vacation really kicked in. Went to Singapore for a couple of days to visit a few people and also check out the place where I'll be working in February then went back to Malaysia to rest, have fun, and just relax. We stayed at the EightGuesthouse after we got back from Singapore and it was one homey place! The shared bathroom thing was not something to look forward to but the atmosphere and the people were definitely an asset.
There were a lot of fun moments we had in KL but my most favorite was on the top of a light house in Kuala Selangor, a provincial town next to Kuala Lumpur. We pet 2 kinds on monkeys on that hill, the black kind one and the awful BAD (not mischevious anymore) selfish yellow scary ones. Carl tried to take a picture of one of the "Senior" yellow or brown monkeys while resting on a porch... when he tried to get a close up on the monkey it got angry and tried to scare him away but he was persistent kept coming closer till it yelled and ran after us.. only after a few steps it stopped and ran away. Hahaha, i t totally scared the shit out of me. A huge ugly crazy monkey chasing carl and me up on the steps... LOL. Im sure we both already looked like monkeys at that moment.
Anyway, Feb 1 I'll be flying in with mahal to Singapore and I will be wokring there hopefully not forever. I'll just try to save as much as I can and then probably go back to Manila and put up a business or move somewhere else.. i don't know.. wherever life takes me... Im excited. I just can't wait to start a new life with my mahal who supports me and loves me. Haay, sarap ng feeling. LOL. But of course, this doesn't mean I'm leaving everyone behind. I'll be far away but the heck Singapore is only 4 hours away by plane - I can easily just go home, rest, meet everyone up and have coffee... naks as if mayaman ako. Hahaha. I just don't wanna think that I'm leaving the country, I want to think of it as something like just going to Cebu or Davao for awhile and then later come back home... this makes things easier for me. :)
I'll make sure that when I get there, I will keep in touch so frequently they wont even think im gone... no matter how. YM, cellphone, email... i just don't wanna miss everybody. Specially my best friends Ella and Aram and my family.
It's so hard being attached to people that when it's time to leave, you just don't know how to let go. But everyone has to, sooner or later... one way or another. Everyone's got to be ready for it, prepared for it, and be strong for it. For now, it's my time to say Thank you and See you to everyone... someday of course we'll all meet again.
Hehehe, amfness emo nanaman ako.
My life has been all about Graphika Manila for the past few weeks, and now that it's done - i feel like I can't wait to help out on another one. But.. well i guess this will be my last hehe.
Im glad to be part of this, to be part of any event that exposes what we do in public. Sooner or later, we will be at par with Singapore... sooner or later the government will recognize us as an Industry... sooner or later they will think of us as an asset... sooner or later there will be standards... sooner or later the public will be more informed that there is graphic design... that Filipinos are the most creative asians and we deserve to become the highest paid designers in Asia.
But anyway, this is a start... hoping for a graphic design guild or something soon too. Something big like there will be divisions for Web, Graphic, Fashion, and Motion. Something that can house all creatives and just build smaller groups. This will come soon, im pretty sure.

I just saw this at the Singapore Gov. website: Creative 2006
Singapore is really rooting to become Asia's design HUB. I wonder if this is good for us designers since this will open an opportunity for the pinoy creatives to become expats can who earn more... or a hindrance to the creative pinoy's dream... which is...? I have no idea.
You tell me.
